Scholar Eric Boynton featured in Warwick Beacon

    Boynton named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

    Eric BoyntonUniversity of Rhode Island student Eric Boynton has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation scholar and awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of his outstanding academic record and community service.

    The Nancy Larson Foundation supports students majoring in elementary education across the country by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year.

    Boynton, of Warwick, is one out of six recipients selected from the hundreds of applicants received by the Foundation.

    Boynton is a senior studying elementary education. Boynton ’s inspiration to become a teacher stems from his passion volunteering at the Special Olympics. Boynton is working part time as a pass worker for the Groden Center, where he is paired with a special young boy with whom he spends time and helps with schoolwork.

    “I hope that what I am accomplishing with my students in the classroom is making a difference in their lives,” said Boynton. “Great teachers not only love to teach but also love to share that joy with their students.”
