Nancy Larson Foundation opens applications for 2018 education scholarships

    Apply Oct. 1 through Nov. 15, 2018 to be a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

    Old Lyme, Conn. – (September 20, 2018) – The Nancy Larson Foundation will accept applications from October 1, 2018 to November 15, 2018 for at least five $1000 scholarships. Applicants should be college upperclassmen and graduate students preparing to be elementary school teachers.

    About Nancy Larson Foundation
    Nancy Larson, a former teacher and curriculum director, is the author of two nationally successful curriculum programs. Her original Saxon Math K–4 program provides teachers a classroom-tested math program that prepares children for advanced math classes. In recent years, Ms. Larson created Nancy Larson Science to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format for kindergarten through fifth grade students.

    About the Scholarships
    The Nancy Larson Foundation awards scholarships to promising students majoring in elementary education. Each year the Foundation awards at least five $1,000 scholarships to deserving college students.

    Juniors, seniors, and graduate students who have declared an elementary education major are invited to apply. An applicant should submit the completed application form, official transcript, a resume with employment history, activities, community service, paid positions and/or internships and a personal narrative. The personal narrative should answer: “Why do you want to teach, what personal experiences have inspired you to teach and/or what will make you an excellent teacher?”

    Applications are accepted from October 1 through November 15, 2018. Completed applications and supporting documentation must be postmarked by November 15, 2018 to be considered. Scholarship recipients will be notified by December 30, 2018.
