awarded scholarship for studying elementary education
Tallahassee, FL (April 23, 2024) – Florida State University student Carson Kaiser has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1500 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.
The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Kaiser is one of nine recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.
In her personal narrative, Carson explained,“I have known my entire life that I wanted to be a teacher. Both of my parents are school teachers, my stepmother is a teacher as well as countless aunts and uncles. I loved to play school and was always the teacher. In first grade during a parent teacher conference, my teacher told my parents, ‘Carson is bossy.’ Instead of dismissing my ‘bossiness’ as a disruptive behavior, Mrs. Smith said I exhibited natural leadership skills and she fostered those over the next year. As I refined my leadership skills over the years, I realized that I thoroughly enjoy helping others reach their goals and working with a group to accomplish a task. This solidified my aspirations to be a teacher.”

Larson, an author, former teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson® Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
