awarded scholarship for studying elementary education
Springfield, MO (April 23, 2024) – Missouri State University student Tyler Crane has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1500 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.
The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Crane is one of nine recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.
In her personal narrative, Tyler explained, “I’ve had many wonderful teachers who had a profound impact on my life and helped shape me into who I am today. School was my favorite place to be because I knew that no matter what I had going on at home, I could have a good day at school. My teachers held high expectations for me and always believed in me. I attribute much of my success as a first-generation college student to my teachers, school counselors, and other school personnel. My life could have gone very differently had it not been for them, and my ultimate goal is to be the person for my future students that my teachers were for me.”
“Tyler’s personal story of how much she has overcome and her positive relationship with her teachers is very inspiring,” remarked Nancy Larson. “She understands what it takes to be a great teacher and an inspiration to children. She embodies the type of teacher who not only will educate, but help mentor and create a positive environment for all children. ”
Larson, an author, former teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson® Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
