Alma College Student Carter Crow Named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

Alma, MI (Mar 14, 2025) – Alma College student Carter Crow has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1500 scholarship in recognition of his inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.

The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Crow is one of eight recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.

In his personal narrative, Carter explained, “My life experiences have helped me realize that my dream is to become a teacher and a coach so I can guide children to find their passions and to support their growth. As a child, I spent many years going to Shriner’s hospital for my sister’s rare bone disease. I loved helping her and the other children. As an adult, I knew I needed to work with kids, but being a doctor was not my path. I asked my soccer coach if I could observe his classroom. I knew very quickly this was the place I belonged. I look forward to student teaching.”

“Carter’s determination, passion for teaching, and desire to be a role model for children really impressed our committee,” said Nancy Larson. “Carter has what it takes to persevere and leave an impact on those in his classroom.”

Larson, an author, retired teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson® Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
