Franciscan University of Steubenville Student Olivia Kline Named Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar

Steubenville, OH  (Mar 14, 2025) – Franciscan University of Steubenville student Olivia Kline has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1500 scholarship in recognition of her inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.

The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Kline is one of eight recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.

In her personal narrative, Olivia explained, “I was inspired by my teacher Mrs. McKenna. She knew I was an extremely timid and shy child. Giving a presentation to the class was scary, but she knew how to help me through it. I know first-hand what students today may be facing. As a future educator, I want to instill in my students the knowledge that they are capable of great things. I want to be the teacher that makes her students feel welcomed, loved, supported, encouraged, and safe to try new things.”

“Olivia is the type of aspiring teacher that we want to nurture and support,” said Nancy Larson. “Our classrooms need intelligent, energetic, young educators that can provide the best possible learning environment for elementary students.”

Larson, an author, retired teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson® Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
