Shawnee, KS (July 30, 2026) – Kansas State University student Alejandro Wirth has been named a Nancy Larson Foundation Scholar and awarded a $1500 scholarship in recognition of his inspiring leadership, personal narrative, and academic achievement.
The Nancy Larson Foundation proudly supports students across the country majoring in elementary education by awarding scholarships to deserving students each year. Wirth is one of seven recipients selected from the many applications received by the Foundation.
In his personal narrative, Wirth explained, “My decision to become an elementary school teacher has been shaped by both loss and growth. Losing my mom when I was in third grade showed me firsthand how much children need stability, encouragement, and adults who believe in them. Becoming a father gave me another layer of understanding, I wanted my kids to see education as something that opens doors for them, even when life is hard. Because of my experiences, I plan to build a classroom where every student feels noticed and valued. I hope to create a safe, encouraging environment where students see that learning is not just about tests or grades, but about growth, resilience, and believing in themselves.”

Larson, an author, former teacher, and curriculum director, has dedicated her life to advancing elementary education. Nancy Larson® Science K–5 programs are classroom-tested and prepare children for upper-level science classes and careers in science. The program was written to provide in-depth science content in an easy-to-teach format.
